General
information about Cupolas
-
Cupolas have been
bringing warmth, tradition and charm to homes and
businesses throughout America for hundreds of years
as well as providing vital ventilation functions.
-
Addition of a
cupola creates a new roofline to your home, garage,
barn or gazebo. Proportioned to your home, it
creates an asymmetrical appeal and streamlines your
outside buildings to look there absolute best.
-
Custom-made cupolas are a
great way to achieve a one-of-a-kind look that
stands out. Cupolas can give a focal point and draw
the eye to them.
When purchasing a cupola there are two major factors:
1.
Size
*
The size of the
cupola is determined by the length and width of the
building. Basic rule of thumb for every foot of unbroken
roof line, you need an inch length on the cupola.
Example: 24 feet would be 24 inch cupola.
*
If building
higher than one story we recommend a larger cupola.
*
Cupola bases
are designed to accommodate different roof pitches of
the structure it will sit upon.
* Window cupolas
may look smaller than the same sized louvered cupola on
any building. Because they are more delicate looking.
*
If building
greater then 100 feet long use multiple cupolas. A
solution would be to have a larger one in the middle
with two smaller ones at each end or two cupolas one at
each end.
2.
Architectural
compatibility with the structure
Examples: Types of
cupola for different building styles:
*
Raised Center
Barn, Pagoda style is most suitable
*
Buildings with
gambrel roof, Bell style is more appropriate
*
Colonial style
home, Bell Style is more appropriate
*
French Country
Home… Pagoda style is more appropriate
